Route1 targets SMBs with its MobiKEY mobile security solution

Founded in 2004, Toronto-based Route1 Inc. is a rising heavyweight in the world of security and identity management solutions. 

With an established enterprise and government client base, Route1 is now targeting the SMB market with the launch of its online eStore. Small and medium sized businesses will now have access to the same Route1 mobile security and identity management technology (the MobiKEY) being used by organizations like the Canadian federal government, the U.S. Department of Defence, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Route1’s approach to security is built on the foundation of enabling easy-to-use remote access to corporate information and assuring the correct identity of the individual – not the tablet, PC, smartphone or other device – accessing the information.

“Whether you're a small business, an individual, or the Department of Defence – ultimately good security first starts by ensuring that you know who the person [accessing your data] is,” Route1 CEO, Tony Busseri told IT in Canada in an interview. “We think there are a lot of good tools out there today but they do a good job of confirming a piece of hardware, which we think is quite different than identifying an individual.”
